WORLD WINTER CELEBRATIONS!

Letter to Friends & Fellow Learners –Why We Learn of World Holidays

Before the winter break, our Spanish class explored Las Posadas as celebrated in Mexico and the United States.  We learned about the history and song most associated with this 9 day celebration leading up to La Noche Buena[Christmas Eve].

Here are a few videos that helped us understand more about this essential tradition and beliefs of our Spanish-speaking world neighbors.

The Night of Las Posadas –Tale by Tomie dePaula (read aloud)

Las Posadas –Short animated description (in English)

Las Posadas –Outdoor U.S. documentary/interview (in English)

Las posadas mexicanas –Indoor reenactment (in Spanish)

Now, we’re excited to be exploring El Día de los Tres Reyes Magos (along with other world winter holidays) during two of our January assemblies.

Hasta pronto ~~ Señora R.
